The Visayan Style Corto Kadena develop by Maestro Sonny Umpad is not a closed box with a beginning and an end. It is a series of concepts that encompass empty hand, impact and bladed weapon. It is primarily a system of strategy.

Sonny was a great believer in cross training and testing the practicality of material learned. He considered his system a catalyst for improving skills from any martial background and consistently encouraged his students to investigate and apply.

Several of sonny.s senior students teach privately, mostly on the SF Bay Area though his system is also represented in Europe (see links). If you are interested in learning VSCK or hosting a seminar in your area, please email us here. Tell us about your martial arts background and which aspects of the system you are interested in.

There are Visayan Style Corto Kadena classes in both San Francsico and the East Bay, CA every week night.
